The Amber Project

This kayak required re-glassing of the combing as well as reinforced seam. This allowed Amber to compete without a hiccup.

The Sylvie Project

This project was focused on creating a comfortable foam seat for Sylvie’s NDK Echo. I created two separate seats, one that’s low profile to compliment rolling and one that is more of a standard seat to compliment a day of paddling. This customization allows for the perfect fit for the individual paddler.

The NDK Classic Project

This repair project involved restoring a kayak that had been dropped, resulting in hull damage and a puncture. The damaged area was carefully rebuilt to restore structural strength, then faired and finished to blend with the original hull. The result was a strong, clean repair that returned the kayak to the water with confidence.

A torn piece of paper with a green outline and black lettering, torn down the middle, attached to a surface with a black table underneath. The background shows a concrete floor and wooden section.
A white sign with black text partially visible, showing the characters '20'. A vertical beige stripe or stain runs down the middle of the sign. The background includes a concrete floor and some objects such as a wooden framework and a banner or fabric with some text.
A large white cylindrical pipe in a workshop, with patches of foam or adhesive on its surface, surrounded by tools and equipment, including a vacuum cleaner and power drill.
A large rocket or missile placed on wooden supports in a driveway, with part of a house and garage visible in the background, and snow or ice on the ground.

The Epic 18 Project

This repair project involved restoring an Epic 18 that had suffered multiple large cracks from impact damage. Each cracked area was carefully opened up, reinforced, and rebuilt to bring strength back into the hull. The repairs were then faired, finished, and blended as cleanly as possible with the original surface.

The result was a solid, professional repair that restored the kayak’s structure and got it ready to be paddled again with confidence.

The Virgina Project

This project was focused on building a custom foam seat designed to improve comfort, support, and connection to the kayak. Shaped specifically for the paddler, the seat provides a secure fit that enhances control on the water while reducing pressure points during longer paddles. The result is a personalized seating system built for both performance and all-day comfort.

The Seaward Ascente Project

Custom Foam Seat Fit

This project involved building a custom foam seat for a kayak where the original seat was too large for the owner. The goal was to create a better fit that improved comfort, control, and connection to the boat.

The seat was carefully shaped to suit the paddler’s size and paddling style, helping them feel more secure without restricting movement. The finished result provides a more comfortable and confident fit while still allowing the kayak to perform the way it should.

There are shelves with tires and tools to the right, and a workbench with a power drill and other equipment. The garage floor is concrete, and sunlight is coming in through the open door.

The Eliza Project

Keel Strip Installation

This project involved adding a protective keel strip to help guard the kayak against wear from landings, launches, and everyday use. The keel area was carefully prepared, reinforced, and finished to create a clean, durable protective layer that blends well with the boat.

A keel strip is a great upgrade for paddlers who regularly land on rocky beaches, gravel, or rough shorelines, adding extra protection where the kayak sees the most contact.

The Rhonda Project

Custom Foam Seat Fit for Rhonda

This project involved building a custom foam seat for Rhonda’s kayak.

Because Rhonda enjoys rolling and static bracing, the goal was to create a seat that improved comfort, control, and connection to the boat without restricting movement. The seat was carefully shaped to suit her size, paddling style, and need for a secure fit while still allowing good rotation and freedom of movement.

The finished result gives her a more comfortable and confident connection to the kayak, helping support skills like rolling, bracing, and overall boat control while allowing the kayak to perform the way it should.

Client Reviews

“I took my surf kayak to Tim so he could do a general tune up before my surf competition, he found a few areas that needed repair. He did such a good job that you couldn’t even tell it had been repaired. It’s not common that I would trust someone else with my kayak repairs, however Tim’s attention to detail is amazing, his glass work is really clean and unnoticeable (in the best way). West Coast Kayak Works is now my go to repair shop”

— Amber Champion

“Tim does amazing work! If you need a custom-made foam seat, you won’t be disappointed.

He was patient throughout the process and took the time to make sure the seat was a perfect fit for me. He came up with creative solutions to meet my needs, especially because I wanted something reliable that would stay firmly in place during rescues and be positioned properly for my height.

The finished seat adds comfort without compromising the performance I need for rolling and playing.
